Dissolution and Dispersion |
Nanotechnology is an important technical field for the development of science and technology in the 21st century. Its application fields are extensive, covering electronics, optoelectronics, medical biology, chemistry, architecture, metals and other industries. However, the related application of nano-powder is still unable to reach the mass production stage. The main problem is the agglomeration caused by the van der Waals force. There are two common solutions to deal with agglomeration; one is mechanical grinding method, and the other is chemical method. The SoniMixer Ultrasonic device uses liquid to create cavitation to mechanically break the powder agglomerates, along with magnetic stirrer to disperse the powder evenly in the liquid to form a stable colloidal solution. |
Applications |
Untreated red copper powder (left picture), with a larger average particle size, indicated that the powder agglomerates into a larger mass in the liquid. Sample treated with SoniMixer showed that the average size and dispersion of the powder were smaller and more uniform than the untreated sample. |
